Ev (Everett) Niewoehner was born in rural Iowa and at age ten moved with his family to Colorado. He graduated from Fort Collins High School and later earned history degrees from Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado. He also studied art at several universities. After retiring from teaching, Niewoehner has been able to concentrate on his first love, oil painting. Although working with a number of genres, he has focused his efforts in two areas--music themed paintings and surrealism. Niewoehner has exhibited in a number of galleries, universities, and art centers in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Nashville, Birmingham, Atlanta, Bisbee, AZ, Rome, GA, Estes Park, CO, Columbia, KY, Clarksville, TN, and Florence, SC. He is a member of Oil Painters of America, Art League of Daytona Beach, Flagler County Art League, St. Augustine Art Association, and Tennessee Art League.
