Marc Anderson was born in Berlin, Wisconsin in March of 1987. He is the third of four sons to Alan and Cheryl Anderson, two loving and abundently supportive parents. Growing up in rural Wild Rose, Wisconsin had a large impact on Marc.
As an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, he frequently featured wildlife in his early artwork. In high school, Marc received several awards for excellence in art including the W.T. Graham Youth Art Award, Honorable Mention for the Wisconsin Junior Duck Stamp Competition, and both best of show and second place (youth division) in the Annual Rural Rembrandt Art Show.
After graduating second in his class from Wild Rose High School, Marc packed up his brushes and moved to Menomonie, WI to study industrial design at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. After two years in the design department, Marc had the opportunity to draw caricatures at the Valleyfair theme park in Shakopee, MN. There he received training from MAD magazine's Tom Richmond. It only took one summer of retail caricatures to get Marc hooked on illustration and cartooning. Upon returning to UW-Stout, Marc began drawing editorial cartoons for the school paper, The Stoutonia. After realizing just how opinionated he actually was, Marc began writing for The Stoutonia's Op-Ed section as well. He quickly devoted all his creative energy to learning all he could about illustration while honing his craft.
